Born in the Midlands, now residing between there and London. In 1997-1999, studied a B Tec National Diploma in Art, specialising in textiles. Went on to study a BA in Fashion Design at Middlesex University, choosing a course that placed emphasis on concept and the creation of ideas. After graduating found a natural gravitation towards costume design and prop making, stemming from an interest in creating a visual narrative. Returning in recent years, to producing own artistic work.
In my practice I explore a range of issues relating to the shifting forms of both individual and social reality. I retain a focus on the elements that drew me to costume design, in the first instance the formation of character through form, texture and colour. These visual signifiers that communicate on a non-verbal level hold their fascination for me. I consistently get inspiration from the body that makes contact with the world, encountering the difference between what can be consciously articulated and what must be sensed, and our unstated assumptions the ones we individually obey, ignore or misread in an attempt to find meaning and value in life. The gulf that exists between the experience and comprehension of two constantly frustrates and fascinates me and perpetuates my desire to translate and record such essentially In-communicable phenomena.
